
Geriatric Education Centers
In 2003, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded the OVAR/GEC and five other GEC's curriculum development grants in Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness in Aging. The six Geriatric Education Centers have continued to develop resources in emergency preparedness for aging through HRSA and other funding sources. Among those resources are included:

Texas Consortium of GECs - (on-site class) Mental Health & Disaster Preparedness Geriatric Emergency Preparedness Certficiate.
New York Consortium of GECs - (On-Site Class) - Mental Health & Disaster preparedness Geriatric Emergency Preparedness Certificate - a 40-hour certioficate in Geriatric Emergency Preparedness in response to the increased need of healthcare providers for enhanced knowledge & skills in emergency & disaster preparedness, for the third consecutive year with great success.
