The Partnership:

Since 2003, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville have received funding from CHFS/DPH to provide training across KY for emergency preparedness for aging.  The training is designed to facilitate community collaborations, distribute training resources, increase the number of Emergency Preparedness for Aging blended TRAIN offerings, increase the number of professionals trained, and evaluate training outcomes.

Training is designed for professionals from public health and other health care agencies, aging and independent living services, emergency management, and other service professionals who work with older persons, and older persons who receive these services.  Trainees have indicated the need for emergency preparedness for aging resources and tip sheets to use and to share at community trainings and health fairs.

The KY Preparedness for Aging eNewsletter is designed to be a quick reference training resource for professionals responsible for emergency preparedness for older persons.  The eNewsletter will provide users with current information and training resources and will link to federal and state emergency preparedness sites.  KY emergency preparedness for aging training options will be featured as well as national aging conferences that offer peer groups and presentations on emergency preparedness.

Each newsletter will be archived for easy access at http://cwte.louisville.edu/ovar/emergency/2nd/archive.htm.

Each issue will focus on a different aspect of emergency preparedness and aging.

Please let us know if the KY Preparedness for Aging eNewsletter is helpful and how we can better meet your training needs at OVAR-eNews.  We look forward to working with you.
